The Commerce Department indicates that the members comprising the consortium are at the forefront of creating and using more advanced AI systems and hardware. “The consortium represents the largest set of test and evaluation teams created to date. It will focus on laying the groundwork for a new science of measurement in AI security,” it assures.

Bruce Reed, White House Deputy Chief of Staff, stated that to keep pace with AI, swift action must be taken to ensure that everyone, from government to the private sector and academia, is rowing in the same direction. “Thanks to President Biden’s Executive Order, the AI Security Consortium provides a critical forum to realize the promise and manage the risks posed by AI,” he noted.
