El Salvador’s treasury has thousands of bitcoins, NFTs and Ordinals tokens

On Thursday, March 14, a Bitcoin address containing parts of El Salvador’s holdings in the digital currency became known. It was then learned that Nayib Bukele’s administration took 5,689.7 bitcoins (BTC), more than he was supposed to have. However, other things were also found.

The Bitcoin address belonging to El Salvador hosts 67 Ordinals protocol registrations, so far. This is arbitrary information recorded in Bitcoin transactions to store tokens and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) natively on that network.

All registrations hosted in the Salvadoran government wallet arrived in recent days; some on March 12 and many others on the 14th, when Bukele revealed the information to the public.

One of the entries that arrived corresponds to the Runestone collection, which recently auctioned an NFT that sold for more than 4.2 BTC. In the El Salvador wallet there is a token belonging to Runestone.

Additionally, there is also a copy of Eric Hughes’ Cypherpunk Manifesto. The Cypherpunk Manifesto is a text written by Eric Hughes in 1993 that establishes the principles and values of the cypherpunk movement, which advocates the use of cryptography and technology to guarantee privacy and individual autonomy in the face of surveillance and centralized control.

Finally, other Ordinals inscriptions contained in the El Salvador address correspond to different collections of BRC-20 tokens, such as SATS, DRAC and ORDI. The “gifts” received in the last few hours are in addition to numerous donations in bitcoin that began to arrive en masse since Bukele’s announcement.
