KOKYO NFT, driven by Japan Airlines and Hakuhodo, aims to tokenize unique Japanese traditions and customs that have become highlights of tourist itineraries. Hakuhodo, a century-old company, ranks among the world’s top ten innovation and marketing firms.
Japan Airlines NFT introduces a novel approach to offer exclusive experiences, fostering deeper connections between visitors and local communities through NFT ownership. Leveraging blockchain technology, the project selects six Japanese regions to offer tokenized tourism experiences in 2024, using Web3 and NFTs to monetize Japanese culture uniquely.
Collaborating, Japan Airlines and Hakuhodo develop a blockchain model to tokenize celebrations, traditions, cuisine, and craftsmanship from various Japanese regions. In 2023, they launched KOKYO NFT, offering unique experiences like acquiring rare Kokuto Shochu from the Amami Islands.
The project’s second phase aims to tokenize unique experiences across six Japanese regions through NFTs. Six new NFT types will be minted on Astar zkEVM, a Layer 2 network built with Polygon technology. Interested buyers can purchase NFTs through the KOKYO NFT website, with payments accepted via credit card or Ethereum. A secondary market on Rarible will facilitate NFT sales.
The collection includes NFTs offering diverse experiences:
- Fireworks Cruise: Participants create and launch fireworks at Lake Toya’s “Long Run Fireworks” event.
- Premium Sake: Owners enjoy an exclusive sake experience, including a visit to a premium sake brewery in Mito City.
- Japanese Knife: Participants engage in the artisanal production of an exclusive forged knife from Fukui City.
- Samurai Family: Owners become honorary members of a samurai family with over 400 years of history.
- Space Art: Participants collaborate to create an NFT artwork exhibited at the Tanegashima Space Art Festival.
- Kokuto Shochu NFT: Owners visit a distillery in Amami and participate in the aging process of exclusive Kokuto Shochu.
